I only see two options when it comes to the outcome of work. You can either live your dream or your can live their dream.
Let me explain.
Your Dream: what are you passionate about? If money wasn't an issue, what you do with all your time? What is your dream job? Do you want to be a graphic designer, how about owning multiple business's in multiple industries? Maybe you want to be an organic farmer servicing farm to table restaurants. Maybe you want to dig wells in a third world country. The point isn't what job it is, the point is that it's your dream job, your dream career. It's so good you would dream about it at night and wake up in the morning ready to tackle the day.
Their Dream: this is maybe where you are now. Workin' for the man. It's far from your dream job, or maybe it is your dream job, just not your dream company. You're an order taker at the golden arches, your a server at a high end restaurant. Again, the point isn't what your job is, the point is that you hate your current position. In this current position you are helping the owner live out his/her dream, he is paying you as little as possible to get the job done, so that he has more resources to live and support his/her own dream.
Let me encourage you. We have 1 life here on earth with two options, we can either live out our dream and bust our butts to make it happen or we can help our boss of the company live their dream.
Six years ago I kissed a job good-bye, I was working as a bus boy/food runner at a high end restaurant making great money. I was getting earfuls from mangers and servers who acted like they owned me simply because they tipped me for helping them. In the start of the "worst economy since the great depression" (2008) I started my own business. I decided to stop helping the owner of the restaurant live his dream and decided to start living mine. DO NOT give me the excuse it cannot be done in today's economy. I've started two business's in this "horrible" economy, and on top of that I also landed a side job with a valet company simply because I wondered if what everyone was saying about no jobs being available was actually true, it wasn't, I got the job and quit two weeks later because I could make more money running my own business, but it was a fun experiment!
Take the leap, start living your dream, start living your dream lifestyle. Develop that product or service you have been thinking about for so long.
